Lowry Bay 1

This house was the original homestead in the area. It is made of kauri weatherboards which were generally in reasonable condition. The scaffolding job was quite complicated with preservation of the garden a particular consideration.

The paint system on the weatherboards of this property were of varying standards depending on their aspect to the elements. There were pockets of blistering paint and some embrittling of the old enamel paint system underneath the newer acrylic system. On those areas which required it the old paint system was completely stripped back to bare timber, primed and repainted. When stripping we use a chemical stripper which acts very quickly and is a much safer alternative to conventional burning off. We protect all areas not being stripped with masking film and collect all scrapings on sheeting on the floor and dispose of them safely.

There was rust bleed from old rusty hinges. All hinges were changed to bronzed brass.
