Lowry Bay 2

This house is a modern house which had evidence of blistering black paint and non-adherence symptomatic of painting directly onto a stain without suitable preparation. The areas where this was happening were stripped back to bare timber with a chemical stripper and prepared for priming with an alkyd wood primer before being top coated with Resene Lumbersider in Cool Colour All Black.

The windows and doors were in reasonably good condition and when thoroughly prepared were undercoated in Resene QuickDry Primer and repainted in Resene Uracryl. Uracryl is an engineered paint with superior chemical resistence, abrasion resistence, solvent resistence, heat resistence and colour retention to modern waterborne enamels and traditional alkyd-based enamels.

The long run roofing was in reasonable condition with only some rust. The roof was washed down, any light rust was sanded gently to avoid degrading the zinc coating. As the house is within 500m of the sea the whole roof was sprayed with two coats of Resene Galvo Prime. We then painted the roof in Resene Sonyx 101 to match the sheen level on the Coloursteel gutters.
