Hazelwood This modern townhouse was clad with Hardies Shadowclad. This was originally stained with Resene Woodsman which had faded due to ultra violet degradation. There was evidence of mould and some of the cladding was loose. The downpipe fittings were rusted. The joinery was aluminium and didn't require any work. This was a very simple job which firstly required the substrate to be sprayed with a sodium hyperchlorite solution to get rid of all the mould and then given a good power wash and allowed to dry. The interstorey flashings were sanded and coated with a vinyl etch primer. All loose cladding was renailed with stainless steel annular nails. All windows and doors were then masked off and the Shadowclad was spray painted and backrolled with Resene Lumbersider. The bottom of the Shadowclad was glued with a marine glue to prevent the uptake of moisture which was starting to split the cladding at the base. Downpipes were all replaced with new stainless steel fittings. Efficiencies were obtained through the use of mobile scaffolds and the system of quickly applying paint with the use of a spray painting machine and then rolling into the rough sawn substrate. This property was also painted in the middle of winter using Resene Wintergrade paint.
